Althorpe & Keadby

althorpe war memorialAlthorpe War Memorial sits outside the Stephenson Memorial Hall, opposite St Oswald’s Church and close to Althorpe Wesleyan Chapel.

The memorial is a rough hewn granite pillar on a stepped base ‘erected by the ex-servicemen of the Parish to the honour and never dying memory of their colleagues who fell in the Great War’.

The memorial commemorates the names of sixteen men of Althorpe, Keadby and Derrythorpe who lost their lives in World War One. There are however two further men from these villages who are not commemorated on the Village War Memorial but are commemorated on the Great War Memorial plaque in St Oswald’s Church opposite.
